LSA Laser adds new Excimer laser system. Mark Dustrude stated, "this is probably the most powerful excimer laser in a job shop located in the Midwest". The system is located inside a clean environment (non-rated clean area) suited for processing many types of medical components

LSA has customized the system with a "moving mask" system. An excimer laser beam is flat and the mask is used to shape the beam into the necessary characteristic of what is being cut. For example a slot, a round hole, shaped holes such as a star or whatever the hole shape desired. Also a camera system was added for online inspection and setup.

Applications:
Material removal, ablation, drilling, shaped holes, slots, blind holes and spirals. Good for cylindrical/ tube materials and flat material.

Type of material best suited:
PBAX, Polyurethane, Plastics, silicone.

Industries and component types:
catheter, guide wires, electrode, stents.

Benefits:
faster throughput compared to T-Laser systems and other lasers. Better hole characteristics.
